What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is an
ancient healing art that has been practiced for thousand of years. It dates back
to the early Indians, Chinese and Egyptians. It is based on the principle that
the anatomy of the body is reflected in miniature on the foot and by applying
pressure using thumb, finger and hand techniques to these reflexes, it can
stimulate the body's own self healing system, therefore helping to maintain and
restore the body's natural balanced state.
This non-invasive
therapy is carried out on the feet but can also be practised on the hands and ears.
A brief history of
Reflexology
The most concrete
evidence of the practice of reflexology in ancient |
Prior to this discovery it was widely believed that reflexology had ancient
origins and frequent conjecture was made about its relationship to and
development alongside the ancient Oriental practices of shiatsu and acupuncture.
Similarly, North American Indian medicine men are believed to manipulate and
stimulate the feet as a part of their healing practice.
How Reflexology Works
The
aim of Reflexology is to encourage the return of "homeostasis", a
state of equilibrium and balance to the human body. Reflexology works in a deeply holistic way. In order for our
bodies to function at peak health all parts of the body must be working
harmoniously. If one part is not working properly then all parts are also
affected as they are forced to work even harder to compensate. When our bodies
are not working harmoniously this can cause stress and lead to disease.
Reflexology works on the whole person, not just the symptoms. It helps you to
achieve a deep state of relaxation, which in turn allows the body to heal
itself, returning it to its natural balanced state.
Reflexology helps to
clear blockages of energy and greatly speeds up the elimination of toxins
leaving you with a deep sense of well-being.
Who Can It Help?
The recipient's first treatment will include an in-depth consultation to
establish a medical history and determine the recipient's current problems.
Almost anyone of any age can benefit from Reflexology. It can be used to help
almost any condition. It can benefit problems such as digestive, hormonal,
nervous, cardiovascular, muscular, stress and the immune system. Reflexology is
not only beneficial to people who are showing symptoms of ill health - it is
also of great benefit to people in good health as it will keep their systems
working properly at an optimal level. The benefits of Reflexology treatment over
a period of time are improved circulation and nerve supply, an elimination of
bodily toxins, improved energy levels and a general reduction in stress levels.
Discover the benefits of this deeply relaxing and very effective therapy for
yourself. The results obtained can be truly amazing. There is nothing like an
hour's Reflexology treatment to help combat the effects of stress.
What Are The Do's And Don’ts Of
Reflexology?
Reflexologists are trained practitioners but DO NOT
diagnose disease, treat for a specific condition and NEVER prescribe or advise
on the taking of medicines. Reflexologists DO NOT practice medicine or treat
specific diseases. Reflexologists CAN assist with the elimination of a
recipients problems by bringing the body back in to a state of balance. Tender
reflexes when manipulated by a Reflexologist may indicate parts of the body that
are congested and out of balance.
Reflexology can be enjoyed within the comfort of your own home
in the High Peak.
